The wonderful Pam Pecko Smith (flute) will be joining C2C producers and composer/arrangers Ya-Jhu Yang (piano/flute) and Sheridan Seyfried (violin/piano) for a fun evening of classics and lighter fare. Based in London, Pam is a native of Philadelphia and is an active performer across a wide variety of musical styles. This year’s program includes Gabriel Fauré’s lovely Sicilienne; movements from Francis Poulenc’s charming and quirky flute sonata; and the opening movement of Mozart’s popular Kegelstatt trio. The ensemble also will perform Celtic dances with fiddle, piccolo and piano, and Triona Ni Dhomhnaill’s “At the Races.” Smith, who also is a jazz vocalist, will sing a few favorites from the Great American Songbook. The program will also feature new arrangements by Yang and Seyfried: the Celtic folk song “Down by the Salley Gardens” and the finale of Brahms’ Serenade No. 2.
Celtic to Classical presents mixed-genre live concerts in Southern Delaware and in the greater Philadelphia area. Movements of classical masterworks are presented alongside other styles, such as Celtic, bluegrass, New Age, and folk. Listeners will often hear arrangements and compositions by the producers of the series, Sheridan Seyfried and Ya-Jhu Yang, who perform on piano, violin, and flute, alongside guest musicians.
Concerts last a little more than one hour. A free-will offering is accepted in lieu of ticketed admission. Seating is first-come, first-served.
